I have always been a keen runner, enjoying the occasional half marathon, but I hadn’t run for five years owing to getting married and either being pregnant or having small children to care for. I gave birth to my baby girl in January 2018, and aware I was turning 40 in April 2019, I wanted to prove to myself I still had what it takes to run another half marathon. Up for a challenge, I booked a place to run in the 2018 Great Bristol Half Marathon.

Running a half marathon gives you the opportunity to raise awareness and funds for a charity of your choice. I chose to support PID UK because my nephew, Jacob, has a primary immunodeficiency.  see what Jacob, my sister and their family go through and the struggles they face.

I wanted to raise awareness and give something back to those who strive to find new treatments and hopefully, one day, a cure. I was very pleased to run the Great Bristol Half Marathon in 2 hours, 20 minutes and 19 seconds, raising £365. I have already signed up to run again in September 2019!
