Dealing with diagnosis

“It was good to hear other people’s situations and also how to cope with emotions and feelings around diagnosis of our rare illnesses.”

“I felt it was uplifting to be heard and realised in six years since diagnosis this was the first time I could really share this”

The session has shown us coping mechanisms and Rebecca gave us all personal ideas we can implement to help improve our situations. The facilitator was excellent and included everyone to make us all feel welcome. I found it a great course and well worth attending. I don’t feel so alone in my diagnosis now.”

“Great session, really enjoyed listening to others experiences of living with a chronic condition and how it has impacted them personally and professionally.”

“I found it helpful having an opportunity to share my experiences with others. Also hearing everyone’s individual experiences of diagnosis and living with a chronic illness.”

“To meet other people who had similar thoughts and to have acknowledgement that my feelings are normal was helpful.”

Managing uncertainty

“Sessions like this are so valuable to people like myself and not only give us information and help managing our conditions but also offer us the opportunity to share things together which is a big factor in coping knowing you are not on your own and sharing with others with usually different, but similar challenges.”

“I found the information & meeting other people most helpful. Excellent informative sharing space. Really enjoyed. Thanks.”

“It was helpful to be able to share and learn with people in a similar situation as myself.”

8-week mindfulness course

“Fantastic course. Helped with many coping strategies and managing anxiety, fear of illness, fatigue and over doing things. Meditation is a wonderful thing I have discovered and the whole learning process was made so great by a fantastic teacher. Thank you so much for the opportunity to participate. Highly useful and effective. I hope it continues to be available to others.”

“I found the course really valuable, the teacher was very patient and knowledgeable and it helped immensely to be the room with other people with similar condition to mine.”

“I really enjoyed the course and found it very useful and helpful. I thought the facilitator was very good at explaining things and answering queries that came from our group.”

Mindfulness refresher

“The Mindfulness Refresher session was very helpful. It has helped me reconsider my Mindfulness practice and that it is not a failure if I don’t do it as often as I was thinking I should. Self- judgement then leads to me stopping any practices. The facilitator was his usual brilliant self and he’s a great group leader.”

It is important not to feel alone when dealing with rare conditions. With mindfulness, the suffering is less and there is a huge sense of achievement when you just show up and try.”

“It was great to reconnect and be reminded of the concepts we’ve learnt previously. It’s so easy to forget them, especially when still trying to establish a formal mindfulness practice.”

“It made me feel better and relieved stress. It has encouraged me to practice mindfulness more consistently and make it part of my routine rather than a spontaneous thing I do when I’m stressed.”

“As always a fabulous and so useful session. The information and techniques are one thing but the facilitator has the professional yet relaxed and friendly way in which he connects to people. makes it all realistic, accessible and easy. It has helped me so much and I didn’t say it in the session publicly but it has helped me to come off one of my medications. I wish everyone could benefit from this drug free type of self therapy. Thank you very much.”

“So good to meet the facilitator and the others. To be reminded of the practice and inspired to continue and explore further. Many thanks, just excellent.”
