Lexi’s letter to healthcare professionals
Lexi’s Letter is a powerful message offering honest advice to healthcare professionals about how to care for young people with compassion and understanding.
Lexi, was diagnosed with the primary immunodeficiency called APDS2, in 2015. She wrote the letter in December 2024 while in hospital in Newcastle for a stem cell transplant to treat her condition. During her care, Lexi worked with Touch Design as the creative director on the animation until her sad death, aged 14, in September 2025 from complications due to the stem cell transplant.
Lexi’s family have kindly given Immunodeficiency UK permission for the animation to be shared widely, in the hope that it will improve hospital experiences for young people everywhere. Lexi’s sister, Ella reads the letter in the film.
You can watch the animation here:

Please use #LexisLetter when sharing, so her family can see the impact of her message.
You can also download Lexis Letter as a pdf to give to your health team.
Liz and Andy (Lexi’s parents): “Immunodeficiency UK have been an invaluable resource for us over the last ten years from the moment we found out that Lexi had a primary immune deficiency. We hope Lexi’s words will be of use to everyone involved in the care and treatment of children and young people with these conditions, and most importantly that we can all help fulfil Lexi’s wish to make a difference for other children and young people in healthcare settings.”
Immunodeficiency UK is greatly honoured to share Lexi’s powerful message in her memory.
