Plasma-derived medicines
Immunodeficiency UK’s representatives are members of the NHS Scotland’s National Plasma Product Expert Advisory Group (NPPEAG). NPPEAG helps provide consistent evidence-based advice on the use, prescribing, and procurement of NHS Scotland plasma products.
We have been involved in six meetings since September 2024 giving the patient perspective, including short-term working group meetings to develop a patient leaflet and frequently asked questions about the new plasma medicine programme.
Parliamentary round table event on the UK’s plasma programme
By invitation, in January 2025, we joined representatives from the NHS Blood and Transfusion service, MPs, peers, and the neurological condition charity GAIN at the Houses of Parliament to discuss the UK plasma programme. The event highlighted the vital importance of government support to build plasma collection capacity to meet the needs of patients dependent on immunoglobulin therapy and other plasma-derived medicines.
